After a short spell in the Army, I spent 33 years of my working life as a Chartered Surveyor, before qualifying as a teacher of the Alexander Technique in 2012.
I’m fully qualified and insured, and as a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) I abide by its professional standards and code of ethics. Like all STAT qualified teachers I am regularly checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB).
At Expanding Self I teach groups and one to one lessons. I find group teaching more satisfying, both for my students and myself. Each individual in a group learns from the others in the group, and as such it is much more cost effective than one to one lessons.
I enjoy singing and riding horses and feel comfortable teaching in those disciplines, although I also teach groups as diverse as dental students, health professionals and office workers.
Having worked in a professional capacity for many years, I understand the importance of effective employment. Employers are now finding it ever harder to retain good employees. I welcome enquiries from any organisation that wants its staff and employees to be healthier, happier and more productive. My teaching is always tailored to the organisation’s requirements and I will be happy to come and discuss this with you and arrange workshops at your premises or elsewhere.
Expanding Self also runs workshop sessions for singers and riders, which are advertised locally and on my Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
The cost of workshops varies with the type and number of participants. I am always happy to give a quotation on request.
